At Pilgrims’ Cross CE Aided Primary School we believe that Mathematics is a foundation for understanding the world. We value a Maths curriculum that is meaningful, creative and engaging. We want our pupils to understand the purpose behind their maths learning, to forge connections between different areas of Maths and to apply their knowledge to the wider curriculum and to their everyday lives. We are committed to developing children’s curiosity about the subject, as well as developing an appreciation of the beauty and power of Mathematics.
When the time comes for children to leave Pilgrims’ Cross, we are committed to ensuring that they are equipped with the firm foundations from which they can continue their mathematics learning: to go on with readiness for the learning challenges and opportunities that await them and ultimately become numerate adults. This intent is linked to the following Sustainable Development Goals: Quality Education, Decent Work and Economic Growth and Industry, Innovation and Infastructure.
At Pilgrims’ Cross, we are guided by the White Rose Schemes of Learning when structuring our Maths Curriculum for Reception to Year 6. The White Rose Schemes of Learning group and sequence Maths National Curriculum Objectives for each year group, into blocks across the Autumn, Spring and Summer Terms. Please see the documents below for more detail.
